Sophia Loves Letters

Whimsical and romantic calligraphy and design

My favorite wedding of all time, mine!

Sophia Uretz

It's my anniversary today, and I love looking back through my wedding photos, and thought it would be fun to share them! I was just starting calligraphy when I created everything for my wedding, and since then my style has improved leaps and bounds, but I wouldn't change a thing about what I made. It was the most wonderful day, and we were so happy to celebrate with friends and family. Photos by Abi Q Photo, planning Bijoux Events

Morocco meets Malibu!

Sophia Uretz

Spring is here, and all of the color popping up everywhere reminds me of this Moroccan style shoot in the hills of Malibu!  This shoot was featured on one of my favorite blogs, 100 Layer Cake, last year, and I love the mix of brass, bold patterns, and pops of color! Knot Just Flowers did an amazing job with the design and florals, and Steven Leyva Photography captured all of the beauty perfectly.

Courtney and Kyle's Fall Wedding

Sophia Uretz

The way colors change during the season is magical, or at least that's what I'm told, because I live in Santa Barbara, California, and while it is beautiful and warm and a million other good things, there isn't much change season to season. I think that's why I love working on fall weddings so much, because I get to immerse myself in these rich colors I rarely come across in real life.

You won't find any better fall wedding inspiration than Courtney and Kyle's wedding, and it's no wonder it was featured on Southern Weddings. It was such a joy to work with Courtney, and when she told me she was sending over handmade paper for me to use, I knew she was a dream bride! What makes this wedding extra special is all of the thought the couple put into making it personal, and celebrating the significance of marriage, and their love for each other. It's these kinds of wedding that I feel especially honored to contribute to.

Eclectic, Industrial Wedding Inspiration!

Sophia Uretz

I love paper. Probably too much actually, because I hoard it. Order pretty handmade paper and never want to use it, save all the scraps from projects even though I know I'll never use them. But all that being said, getting to write on non-paper materials can be pretty cool, and this shoot is chalk full of calligraphy on found materials, like lightbulbs and leather, and the paper pieces got kicked up a notch with splatter paint!

All of this creativity came from Wild Heart Events and the shoot was originally featured on Green Wedding Shoes! I had so much fun contributing to it, and I hope you have just as much fun looking through the photos!
