Hey! I'm Sophia

I’m a Santa Barbara, CA based calligrapher and graphic designer (but you probably already figured that out).

My first calligraphy class ever was in college (I was a graphic design major, and it was part of my typography course) and not only was I terrible, but being left handed made it almost impossible for me to do it correctly, so I left the class feeling so disappointed that I would never be able to do calligraphy! Happily though, a few years later I found pointed pen calligraphy, which is different from the italic calligraphy I learned in college, and completely lefty friendly. I did all of the calligraphy and design for my own wedding in 2014, and decided to start my own business.

I started Sophia Loves Letters in 2016, and feel honored to get to add beautiful, meaningful details to one of the biggest days of someone’s life. I put my heart and soul into each project, so that the finished product, and the experience working with me, is the best it can be!
